The Basque coast is full of stunning and dramatic scenery, combined with typical fishing villages that you will love to discover.

The first place to discover is San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, is a must-see and currently a very popular spot due to Game of Thrones’ Series 7 that filmed in this location . It is a cone-shaped island dedicated to John the Baptist and connects to the mainland via a stone bridge with 241 steps that we will climb in order to admire the beauty of the coast.
On our way to Bermeo, we will stop to enjoy the best view of Dragonstone.
We will explore Bermeo, a typical and once a very  important fishing village to learn about the history and traditions of the area. These waters were long ago navigated by pirates and were also the scene of several important historical naval battles.

DAY 3 (Continue)

Our journey continues to Mundaka, a beautiful village known worldwide by the surfers for its “Left Wave”.

It´s amazing to watch the surfers riding the enormous waves from the charming little village.

For lunch you can either choose to eat at a typical restaurant to enjoy the local gastronomy, mostly fish based and hidden away from tourist traps or have some pintxos so you have more time to enjoy the visit.

Following along the coast, we arrive at the Biosphere Reserve of Urdaibai, where we will stop to enjoy the astonishing views of Laida and Laga Beaches.

We can stop at the Bird Center and take a walk along the marshlands.

If you are interested in doing some trekking to admire the views of the Urdaibai Natural Reserve,  we offer an optional extension of 2 hours, to get to the top of the mountain. It’s an easy walk and it’s worth the effort.

DAY 3 (Continue)

Or we can also discover  the Oma Forest, created by  the basque artist  Agustín Ibarrola in 1984.  This magical painted forest is also called “The Enchanted Forest”, where the figures painted on the trees change their shape as we move through them.

It’s an easy trekking path and another option that can take 2 hours.

Our last stop is also a must-see: Gernika, home to one of the oldest Parliaments in the world, it is a symbol for the Basque People, and also the ideal place to discover the history of our land.
